The cliffs and valleys of Tràng An seem to stretch forever, until they are lost in the haze of the low hanging clouds that call this place home. Soft waves lap against our vessel, a decent three bench raft. Our captain, a slim, gaunt man, presides in relative silence over our journey. This place was like nothing I'd ever seen before. Rocks shooting straight up, carved by the strength of the river we float down. It seems as though I've entered a whole new world, totally separate from the one I had just left. Occasionally we pick up paddles and help our vigilant companion, seeing other groups do the same. Coasting through deep chasms and caves lit only by latern, Tràng An is also dotted with ancient structures; mostly shrines where people go to pay their respects and pray. The endless variety is daunting, I can barely process how I'm feeling. Shocked around every corner, blown away at every bend. We'd barely been in Vietnam 4 days, yet I'd encountered more unique stimulation than perhaps ever in my life.
Decent overall condition, one light bend.
